Dear Fishers Island Community:
Happy New Year!
I hope your 2025 is off to a great start. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Mimi Gary for all of her hard work and commitment as past President of FIDCO. I feel fortunate to be following such great leadership.
The following is our annual update regarding FIDCO policies and procedures for 2025.
Stickers
The 2025 gate pass Sticker Rates for all vehicle categories are listed comprehensively on the chart at the bottom of the page and are also available on the FIDCO website. As in the past, every vehicle entering the East End must have a FIDCO sticker or guest pass visible. Price increases year to year reflect on going levels of macro inflation and recognition of the importance of continuing to compensate our employees appropriately.
To purchase your annual sticker, you may use the FIDCO website and click on “Pass Renewal and Request” which appears under the “Gate Information” section. If you require Guest Passes those must be purchased from the team member at the Gate House who will be happy to help.
East End Roads and Vehicles
Our top priority is the safety of our roads and those who travel on them throughout the year. Please remember to drive defensively and stay within the speed limits. As a reminder the speed limit on the main roads is 30 MPH and 15MPH on the side or dirt roads. We continue to invest in road safety, but ultimately it is up to the drivers to ensure a safe experience for everyone on the roads of the East end.
Over the past year we have seen a marked increase in the use of “LSV” low speed vehicles. Last summer FIDCO provided guidance as to the use and profile of these vehicles on the East end roads. We will continue to monitor the usage profile of the LSV’s, but last summer we found that people were following the prescribed requirements and as a result the vehicles were being used safely which was greatly appreciated.
Off Season Hunting
As posted, please be reminded that from November 1-March 1 that FIDCO leases the FIC golf course and nearby FIDCO land to the Sportsmen’s Club for pheasant shooting. Please do not walk on the course or those properties for safety reasons. There are a handful of days when the course is open and available for walking. Please call or text Luis Horn 860 389-5400 to determine the open dates.
Road Painting
This past year Fishers Island Road painting returned to its more traditional roots. Road images throughout the year, that appeared were more lighthearted and more in keeping with past artistry. We appreciate the island’s positive response. We look forward to it continuing in 2025. As a reminder our road art policy that began in 2023 is stated below:
FIDCO will not allow its roads or property to be a platform for divisive road art, political signage or vandalism. Instead FIDCO endorses the quiet enjoyment of its beautiful and natural resources. FIDCO does not manage or condone road painting and reserves the right to maintain its property accordingly. Going forward FIDCO will take action to the best of its ability with respect to those found responsible for the destruction of road art, the creation of images of particularly contentious or sloppy nature or that are a danger to road safety.
2025 promises to be our best year yet. Thanks in advance for your support and appreciation for our special island.
All the best,
Brad

Dear Islanders,
Summer 2025 on Fishers is off to a great start. We hope you and your family will have many happy days ahead.
A couple of updates and reminders from FIDCO to help make your Summer as safe and relaxing as possible.
Secondary Roads
We are pleased to report that extensive work has been done on the Island’s secondary roads many of which over years of usage had significant erosion and potholes. Chris and his team sourced a high-quality grader, paving box and roller and some excellent road mix and re-graded nearly 70% of the secondary roads making them smoother and more consistent. They also are now contoured to drain better so your time driving on them in rainy conditions should be safer and more secure. This work now frees the team up to focus on the final 30% of the smaller and more difficult to reach roads.
Roads and Speed Limits
The road enhancements have not been completed to enhance speed on them. As everywhere on the roads we ask you to maintain Speed limits that have been in place for many years.
- 30MPH on the Main Roads
- 15 MPH on the Dirt Roads
- 12MPH on the Rec Path
And please remember FIDCO reserves the right to revoke East End access from anyone who speeds or otherwise violates NY State laws for Private Road, the FIDCO guidelines for governing Stickers and Guest Passes or Rec path rules.
LSV Policy
An LSV is defined under NY law as a limited use automobile which has a maximum performance speed of greater than 20MPH but not greater than 25MPH. FIDCO supports the responsible usage of LSVs on its roads.
In order to operate an LSV on FIDCO roads it must meet all the requirements of applicable law, and
- Be registered with the DMV
- Have a license plate on the back of the vehicle
- Be driven by a licensed driver
- Be operated during Daylight hours
- Have a FIDCO sticker attached to the vehicle
Road Painting Policy
Road Painting is one of the great traditions of Fisher Island. To protect the unique spirit of painting on the private FIDCO roads the FIDCO board developed the following policy and procedure:
FIDCO will not allow its roads or property to be a platform for divisive road art, political signage or vandalism. Instead, FIDCO endorses the quiet enjoyment of its beautiful and natural resources. FIDCO does not condone or manage road painting and reserves the right to maintain its property accordingly. Going forward, FIDCO will take action, to the best of its ability, with respect to those found to be responsible for destruction of road art, the creation of images of a particularly contentious or sloppy nature, or that are a danger to road safety.
Please enjoy your friends and family on Fishers this Summer. We are so fortunate to be here and so grateful for the many people on the FIDCO team and all the island teams who work so hard to make our island so special for us all.
All the best,
James B. Bradbeer, Jr.
President
